
Maria A. Geraci is currently CEO and director of the CBPT Research Center. She specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at the Humanitas School of Specialization in Rome (LUMSA University). She earned a University Specialization in Psychological Assessment from La Sapienza University of Rome. Finally, she earned a Master’s degree in Play Therapy from the International Academy for Play Therapy in Lugano. She specialized in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with a case study of childhood depression treated with CBPT.
She has been a school psychologist for 20 years, focusing on analysis and intervention in behavior, education, and organization. For 15 years, as a cognitive behavioral psychotherapist, she has worked on cognitive behavioral aspects of neurodevelopmental disorders.
In 2024, she updated the CBPT model developed by Susan Knell and wrote the book “COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL PLAY THERAPY: Evolution of the Theoretical Model and Developmental Perspectives,” published by Armando Editore.
She has published numerous articles, including national and international articles. Her topics include cognitive behavioral play therapy, neurodevelopmental disorders, coping, emotional resources in children with learning disabilities, and promoting resilience.
She is an adjunct professor at LUMSA University and a lecturer at the School of Psychotherapy. She teaches at Roma Capitale and is a trainer for several school prevention projects on topics involving developmental psychology, psychopathology, and educational psychology.
