VISITING
PHILADELPHIA

Visiting Philadelphia and looking for things to do before or after the conference?  Philadelphia offers a rich history, vibrant culture and iconic landmarks.  Explore renowned museums, parks and neighborhoods.  Enjoy some great restaurants.

Philadelphia is the home of the Liberty Bell, an historic symbol throughout United States history.  Independence Hall, the birthplace of American democracy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the U.S. Constitution was created

In the old City?

Try the Founding Footsteps Taste of History Tour, the Italian Market, The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish historyRittenhouse Square, or  Reading Terminal Market.

Fan of the Rocky movies?

You can pose with the Rocky statue and run up the 72 steps leading to the East Entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

If the Rocky statue isn’t your thing, the famous LOVE sculpture (Robert Indiana sculpture in John F. Kennedy Plaza) might be for you.

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway, modeled after the Avenue des Champs-Elysees in Paris, has some of Philadelphia’s most important cultural institutions (Barnes Foundation, Rodin Museum, Franklin Institute, Academy of Natural Sciences and the Philadelphia Museum of Art).
By the summer of 2026, the Calder Museum should be open as the newest museum around.

Hungry?

Try the authentic Philly Cheesesteak (or check out the Vegetarian alternatives: https://www.visitphilly.com/articles/philadelphia/alternative-cheesesteaks/).

Enjoy the waterfront! Eat at some fine restaurants (The Michelin Guide has just announced the addition of Philadelphia to their Northeast Cities guide, scheduled to be published in late 2025), but one way or another there are plenty of great places to eat, from basic fare to fancy.

Getting outdoors

There are many options for outdoor activities at Fairmount Park- hiking and a boathouse row tour with a Surrey Bike Rental.
